A hysteroscopy procedure is used to diagnose and treat conditions concerning the uterus, most commonly to locate the cause of abnormal uterine bleeding.
The procedure involves the insertion of a tiny, camera-mounted tube through the vagina and cervix and into the uterus. The camera allows Dr. Ayalon to see inside the uterus and find what is causing the abnormal bleeding.
If Dr. Ayalon comes across any uterine fibroids or polyps, he can remove them with an instrument that is inserted into the camera tube. With the tube and instrument, Dr. Ayalon can also remove growths, perform endometrial ablation, and take a tissue sample to be used for a biopsy.
