For women both directly before and during pregnancy, nothing is more important than proper medical care. Prenatal care has been proven to reduce the chance of maternal death, miscarriage, and birth defects. Your obstetrician can detect and treat any medical problems before complications occur, and refer you to other specialists when necessary.
If you are considering becoming pregnant or suspect you are pregnant, see Dr. Ayalon for a healthcare checkup to ensure your child will be healthy. You should tell Dr. Ayalon about any medications you are taking, as some may be harmful to your child’s development and may need to be substituted.
During your first visit, your height, weight, and blood pressure are checked, and you may have a pelvic exam conducted on you. Dr. Ayalon may recommend vitamins to reduce the risk of neural tube defects. During pregnancy, you should visit Dr. Ayalon every month for examinations and tests to monitor your pregnancy. Appointments may be more frequent in the last two months of pregnancy.
